Swedish small-business forms: the SKV forms that actually matter

A plain-English map of the Skatteverket (SKV) forms a Swedish sole trader meets: Inkomstdeklaration 1 (SKV 2161), NE-bilaga, F-skatt application, moms reporting.

Skatteverket’s catalog runs to thousands of numbered forms, and the official index is entirely in Swedish. For a solo founder, the good news is that a one-person firm touches only a handful of them. This is the map, in the order you will meet them. It is not tax advice; the authoritative versions live at skatteverket.se and verksamt.se.

1. Business registration (before any form)

Registering an enskild firma happens at verksamt.se, the joint government e-service, not on a paper form. The registration flow includes the F-skatt application. The paper alternative exists but is slow; the digital route is the default for a reason.

2. F-skatt / FA-skatt application

The application for tax approval is evaluated on your business substance: continuity, clients, marketing, profit intent. Approval means clients pay your full invoice; without it they must withhold 30-45 percent. The dedicated page on F-skatt covers how to describe the business so the first decision is the right one.

3. Inkomstdeklaration 1 (SKV 2161)

The annual income tax return for individuals and sole traders. The 2026 deadline is 4 May (1 June with anstånd). Everything about the form, e-filing routes, and common mistakes is in SKV 2161 explained.

4. NE-bilaga

The attachment where the enskild firma’s business year is declared: revenue, expenses, result. It rides along with Inkomstdeklaration 1 and is the form a solo founder actually spends time on. Its logic, and the connection to your bookkeeping, is on the NE-bilaga page.

5. Moms returns (no fixed number; e-service based)

Moms reporting is digital: the return is generated in Skatteverket’s e-service from your registered reporting period, quarterly for most small firms, due on the 12th of the second month after each quarter. Rates, thresholds, and the digital-products wrinkle are covered on the moms page.

6. What you will NOT need as a one-person firm

  • Inkomstdeklaration 2 (aktiebolag and other legal entities). Different return, different deadlines, not yours while you are an enskild firma.
  • Annual report (årsredovisning): an AB obligation; an enskild firma has no public annual report, only the bookkeeping duty.
  • Payroll forms (arbetsgivardeklaration): only when you hire someone.

The pattern behind the list

Swedish small-business paperwork compresses to three recurring motions: register once (verksamt.se), keep tagged books all year (so the NE-bilaga is a summation, not an archaeology project), and file on the May cycle. The main guide on one-person bookkeeping shows the shape that makes the third part small, and tax deadlines 2026 gives you the calendar in one table.
